rotisserie/spit mounting points...
Not quite there yet but will soon have my XJC stripped and ready to levitate & rotate. I know I need to secure/strengthen the body door area before stressing it, but when I mount it up was thinking I would make brackets that insert into the front bumper mount rectangular channels and for the rear bumper ram channels. This might make it a bit top heavy so was thinking I'd 'suspend' from these points front and back to a point that is approx half the height of the body. So the mounts would be this shape:
I was also thinking of making a brace to support from front and rear suspension mount points - I can put casters on this so when the body is off the spit it can be moved. I'm aiming to reinforce the sill area before I put on the spit to help with rigidity. Any other areas I need to consider and feedback on if this approach has unforseen issues gratefully received!
Separately I'm going to try the dry ice underseal removal technique when it's on the spit, be interested to see how well that works...
