Hi I noticed that my XJ6 has 2 different front indicator lenses(see pics.)
Just wanting to know which one is the correct type for my year model(Australian spec car).

I've never seen one with a white lens section, except in Series 1, I think the correct front marker lens for the Series 2 is the all-Amber lens.

interesting though, looks like the other one has a white lens for Parking/Driving light and the Amber section for the Turn Signals. Does the lamp housing itself have 1 or 2 bulbs?

 

I pulled the lens off today and there is only one lamp for the turn signal. There is a hole for another lamp but it is blank. The side/parking light are in the headlights.
So I will try and find a pair of all-amber ones to put on it.

You have partly sorted it.

Somewhere in 1977 Jag moved the park bulb to the rear of the outer headlamp, as in S3 cars, and fitted the all amber lense/lamp units.

All of my S2 cars were '76, and early '77 and had the amber/clear set up.

It was/is an Australian thing, and maybe UK, NZ. The USA market got the amber, and different headlamps etc.

 

Hi this one is a 78 so I guess it should have the all amber ones or did they still fit the orange/white ones to the cars with the parking lights in the outer headlight(as my car has)?

 

Nope.

If the parkers are in the headlamps, then the car would have had the amber lense fitted.

A damaged lamp has possibly occurred, and the amber were hard to find a few years ago, and since the clear/amber fits the base, were fitted, as something was better than nothing.

 

Thanks Grant, I will go with the amber ones. Do you know who in Oz would most likely have them??
