Default Series 1 boot interior? Help needed

Hi all, I am finally re-assembling a 73 XJ6 Series 1 4.2 Manual

which has been in my wife's family from new and had bodywork and respray around 15 years ago. Before I install the boot linings there are various openings in the floor and side to deal with and I was wondering if any members here know can recommend what what materials they should be filled with?.

There are oblong openings in the side that seem originally just to have been taped over? And various round openings for example around the fuel pipes that need some sort of mastic I assume?

Also I would welcome any pictures from series 1 owners of the boot floor / fuel pumps etc so that I can refer to the original arrangement for boot inc the antenna motor etc and check if the finish should be black vinyl or carpet.

Thanks!

in my 1984, the square holes are covered with a type of Duct tape. The recessed round hole is for a bolt and washers to the tank.

I concur with Jose, on my Series 1 the oblong holes are covered with tape. the fuel pipes where they go through the side of the lower boot floor are sealed with a mastic compound. The boot sides are covered with an embossed board that is held on with small black dome head screws, the rails are covered with an insulating vinal glued on. the removable floor has a thick Hurdra felt sheet and covered with an embossed mat trimmed at the edges with vinal. I can't get access to the back of the car at the moment to pull out the floor and photograph the pumps etc. but I hope the one attached will give you an idea of whats inside. The angle strip is to hold up the boot lid but will be a thing of the past soon with David's new hinge kit.

per Nigel's picture, the trimming in the Series 1 is similar to the MK-X, S type, 420, and 420G.
In the Series 3, a carpet type fabric in either tan or grey was used instead. Not sure about the Series 2.

I confirm all that Jose and Nigel say. Here is a shot of my fuel pumps. Not included is the pump tag label which screws on just at the lower left of the photo
