Add this to your tool collection and measure the diameter of the drain plug. This tool will become invaluable as you (and I'll have to think that you will) tinker more on your car.

Just go to a NAPA store with the drain bolt and tell them to get you a copper seal that fits tight. Ace Hardware also has them.

Back yard calipers!!! Select a chunk of coat hanger wire or similar.
Bend it into a "U" shape. Adjust the ends to match the shank of the bolt.

Apply to a rule. read the numbers in MM's or inches. find a similar bot size in your "odd lot" bolts. Use it or the original at the hardware store.

I found Spark plug washers, "copper" to be just right for one of my past critters.

And/or in many cases, not all, the cap size relates tot he shank size.

In a "pinch" cut one out from heavy gasket material.

We have two Ace Hardware stores. One much larger than the other.
good stock of hardware type stuff and a decent plant nursery. But, lots of space in Foofoo!!!

The other, smaller, much less foofoo. No nursery, wisely as there is
a really good one two doors away....

I delight in just aisle shopping a good hardware store.

Carl.
