Default Series 2, LHD, Battery Recommendations?

Nix's battery died the other day. She started right up with a jump, but I try to take such warnings seriously so I'm looking for a replacement before I really need one.

It's the same battery as was in the car, 75 month warranty (haven't seen one longer than 3 years in a Loooooong time!) when I took possession, but it's an unfamiliar brand, definitely not sold around here at this point in history. It may have been in the car for years for all we know, as I'm Sure the car sat idle for at Least 10 years before we bought it (that's how old the 'new' tires were).

No shop around sells a battery of this 34R configuration. They're all too tall to fit in the box under the ledge forward of the windshield, have the posts on the wrong ends and aren't sealed (I have NO desire to eat out the underside of her hood with venting battery gasses!).

Anyway, what do you other Series 2 owners do for batteries?

AC Delco Professional Batteries or Interstate Batteries should have a battery that fits and has the poles in the correct location.

Places like Firestone or Goodyear sell Interstate. GM dealers sell AC Delco. The Professional line of AC Delco batteries are used in RVs to start the giant 502 Ford engines. I was given one of those and tried it in the XJ, wow, they have lots of electricity in there.

measure your battery if it fits nicely, then call around for an 800 Cold Cranking Amps battery in the size of yours.

Yeah, thank you, Jose, we're gonna hafta order it special just like I was afraid of.
I should have known...
If it doesn't fit a Ford 150 of Toyota Camry they don't bother stocking it.
"But we can order one for you......"

I shouldn't have wasted the server space with the question. I should have just ordered it and be done with it.

tell them to order you a fresh battery, with a current date code.

Not wasted. Many can gain from it.

Like II's battery box bottom is higher than the one's in III's ? II's have the conventional top posts. III's have the punier side posts.
IIIs have a bracket from the fire wall forward to join one that fits across the battery. I don't see one in NIIX's bay

My replacement batteries have been too low to fit just right. I made adjustments to the bracketry.

A no sealed battery. Whew ir must be ancient.

Many stores now have POS devices that record sales and compare them to inventory and adjust inventory replacement accordingly. Minimizes stale inventory.

My former employer insured a company that developed one for auto stores and hardware stores. Intriguing.

My 07 Vanden Plas needed a new battery not long ago. It is an odd ball size and vented with a little rubber tube (it fits in the boot by the spare tire). Napa could get me a brand new one ready for pickup the next morning. I highly recommend them for batteries and they are great about returns too. Didn't have to pay for it until I picked it up so I was positive I got the right one.

We went with a Napa battery, perfect fit, in stock, warranty at any of their stores.

Do S111 battery mountings vary by region??

Mine accommodates a top-post battery on the standard mounting as in the pic. I bought this 650cca battery last year from local retail auto store (Autobarn for AU readers) with posts in the correct position. I know this may only be helpful for AU members, but I was surprised to read of difficulties finding a suitable battery off the shelf in the U.S.

My photo is misleading for which I apologize.
My Negative (-) post is on the Outboard side, while the Positive (+) is Inboard.
In Merca this is called Reverse arrangement as virtually all other batteries are posted the other way.

I *could* trade the cables around but it would look a bit hokey to say the least.

I'll try my Favorite NAPA next time I'm in town. However, in this backwater of "civilization" I'm not counting on them having one in stock. But that's why we have battery chargers, isn't it!

Thank you everyone for your replies.
