Series 2 Seats/interior
Hi, currently eyeing an XJ6 S2, interior looks to be non leather, but original stitching/style.
What other material did they come in? Cloth? velvet/velour?
If so, What would the door cards normally be covered in?
Thanks, I did want leather but these look clean.

vinyl was used, corduroy was used, depends where the car was shipped to, or if it was ordered without leather. Leather is a pain anyway, lot of hoopla but no real benefit. I prefer faux leather, lasts forever. None of that "apply this, apply that, let dry, rub thoroughly, reapply if neccessary, business". I haven't got the time.
Door cards may have been vinyl or with matching fabric inserts but usually vinyl. Even if the seat tops are leather, the rest of the seat. sides, shoulders, and back, are vinyl.

If they clean up nice and have no rips or tears you are way ahead of the game. I've never seen any of the factory materials other than leather but I know the UK cars were available with cloth. Jose is right about only the seating surfaces being leather with the dash, seat backs and sides and door cards being vinyl on XJ6 but some Vanden Plas cars had leather in some additional locations but I can't tell you which.
Jeff the Vanden Plas also had leather covering the center console and arm rest / console lid. The front and rear headrests are also covered in leather in all models.
Otherwise everything else is vinyl which outlasts leather by centuries.
