Series 2 windscreen lockstrip
the URO brand piece I have is round on one side and angled (?) vee shaped on the other; which way round does it go into the groove, and what is the best method for installing it? FINALLY got the screen back in after two attempts and a little judicious cursing.... lots of mastic all over.... hate that stuff.
What in bloody hell was Jaguar thinking.... Or is the URO lock strip too bloody wide? I've managed to cut my brand new screen gasket in three spots trying to use a Lisle #47000 tool to fit that damn thing.... and it will not fit. I'm not known for my even temper....
plenty of soapy water, and it can't get much hotter here in South Carolina... whatever; the strip won't fit. I found a fix that works, though. I'll still have to buy a new gasket eventually to replace this one. Ford used a similar style gasket on Falcons (which I'm very familiar with) that used a combination stainless steel trim/lock strip to lock the rubber down, would have been a real good idea on the XJ6.
