Default Series II fuel delivery questions

OK let me start off by saying that although familiar with cars in general I know very little about Jaguars. I have a 1974 XJ6 that I am working on getting running. The car has not ran in quite some time, but is in excellent shape. I have the fuel pumps working and the fuel is going from the tanks to the filter...the trouble is that I do not seem to be getting fuel to the carbs. I need to know where the fuel lines go, where the fuel enters the carbs, and what the heck is the thing on top of the motor that seems to have fuel lines and AC lines going to it? There is a hardline that comes into the top side of the carbs and then a soft line that comes into the bottom of the carbs. What do those lines do? Which one is the feed line? Please advise. Thanks!
