Series III XJ6 VDP, Crank but not starting
Greetings!
I'm fairly new to this- as well as new to owning a classic Jag. I own a 1984 Jaguar XJ6 VDP S3 and i've recently come across an issue. Now, i'm not sure if this is an easy fix or not and i'm just completely moronic, but whenever i try to start the ignition it cranks but doesn't start. If I try after a couple hours or so after it does fine i'm just not able to try to start is moments after it's turned off. i haven't tried anything yet because i'm not sure what steps to take and i'm trying to not go to a mechanic to save me some cash so any suggestions are welcome! I'm still learning and im curious if anyone else has had this problem.
Also, a side note; before this ever started there had been a couple moments where i would attempt to start my car and it would make this aggressive "HRRRR!" sound and it's EXTREMELY loud, but if i simply took the key out of the ignition and tried again it would start up fine- so i'm wondering if that's part of the issue. I didn't think much of it because it had only happened twice before in my time of owning it.=
Thanks (:

Both the ignition module and ignition coil can fail after absorbing engine heat...usually after driving and hour or more.
But there are other possibilities, of course. The first thing to do is determine if the problem is "no fuel" or "no spark".
Here's some reading and checks:
ENGINE CRANKS BUT WON'T START
Post back with any questions
