small contact under the ign.sw.(lock)

Can anyone tell me what the function is of a small 2 wire contact under the ignition switch under the lock. thanks

it is supposed to sense when there is a key in the lock in order for a buzzing sound to be made when the door is open and there is still a key in the lock. It's a reminder for you not to forget your key.
