1978 XJ6

On my seat brackets that hold the seats in place have studs and round
spacers with nuts.

What are the spacers for in this case?

to keep the tracks from dragging over the flat surface??

to raise the seats by 1/8" inch?

to provide a wider surface for the tracks to sit on?

to insulate the tracks from the body?

who knows.

 

The rail the seat is attached to that moves would otherwise hit the riser. It needs the space to get past the riser.
