Speedometer
I have a 1981 XJ6 and it has mechanical speedometer and placed a drill on the input and no reading on the gauge. I traced the cable to a white plastic box on the firewall the cable goes in this box and come out and goes to the front of the engine. I assume it goes around and into the instrument panel . I have not got that far yet. What I want to know is what is this plastic box it has a plug also but was not plugged in anything. I am assuming that the spedo cable is bad somewhere . Thanks for any input. Jerry P.S. it was working a week ago.
The box is the "Intervalometer"...or some silly name like that. Every 30,000 miles an internal switch closes to turn on the oxygen sensor warning light. There's a reset button on the box to restart the count.
Most people get a one piece replacement cable and ditch the box
Cheers

Not sure about a connector. The usual thing is to just buy a new, single cable. I would contact 'one of the usual' Jag vendors (SNG Barrat, Jagbits, Coventry West, Welsh, etc). they should be able to fix up up
