Haven’t really posted in a while, been out driving grinning from ear to ear!!! Also dealing with some tuning issues, ie full throttle shift points set above redline!!!! Issue was Between new tune and old tune on the pcm ( car is lumped for anyone now knowing me) anyway, whoever previously tuned the computer locked it, so new tune was never uploading!! Got all that sorted with a brand new tune, and a few extra tweaks, I have added the performance button from the Pontiac firebird, when activated it uses different shift table for the trans, so I can now drive quite sedately with nice low shift points to get into high gear quicker for better mpg or I can hit button and it holds shifts until much higher keeping engine in its peak torque curve! It’s night and day! I’m loving it!!!!
Dave, don’t know if your harness has the wires in it already (like mine did) but if not. You may want to think about adding them and the switch, of course if you send off for a tune, they will likely just copy the performance tables directly into the normal tables (that’s how mine came, but I swapped in stock set of normal tables from an impala ss)
if you don’t already have a cable and tuner pro, I strongly suggest getting them, if nothing else, download the tuner pro and a few different tunes to compare and fiddle, that’s what I have been doing, and have learned tons!!! For example turning off vats is as simple as unchecking a box!!!

Good to hear you're having a great time with the lump. My wiring schematic shows a "performance mode switch" in PCM connector/position C13. Would this be what you are talking about? Does it require an actual separate switch to activate it? I'm only about knee deep in the PCM tuning, all in my head right now. Come spring, I'll need to be neck deep and making more decisions.

I'm rolling the car out of the garage tomorrow and putting it in dry storage for the winter. I've been at it for 20 months on just the car, now it's time to put the engine together. Looking forward to a change of scenery.

Yes Dave, that’s the circuit, you just need a momentary switch to ground to access the performance tables. Shbox .com Has the instructions! Even has a way of adding an led. Light to let you know when it’s turned on, but trust me, performance of the car tell you if it’s on or off!!

Sounds like the "sport" mode on a modern sports car. My 07 VDP in sport mode makes the transmission shift higher and downshift sooner. But it also adjusts the air-ride suspension which makes the ride harsh.
