Need help

My series 1 is having issues starting when cold or if not started for a few days.

Fuel definitely getting through to carbs but takes at least 15 cranks to get going.

Any ideas??

The list is long, and in no order.

1) Battery not quite up to snuff, so starter motor draws too much of available juice, leaving little for the spark.
2) Spark is too weak for the fuel/air mix.
3) Electric choke, if still fitted, is not supplying a richer mixture for cold start assist.
4) Fuel level too low in the carbies, so cold start enrichment is limited, BUT, this will depend on which spec of SU is fitted.
5) Spark plugs are old.
6) HT leads are old.
7) Not sure on S1, but if it has a fuel pump relay that is switched by a reverse oil switch, the pump may not be priming the carbies to the correct level. The cranking supplies oil pressure, that switch closes contact, the relay activates the fuel pump, the carbies get more fuel, and the beast bursts into life. This is common on S2 cars.

I will stop there for now.
