Timing Help
Hi guys, as you know, the European models of the 1975 Series 2 XJ6 have a vacuum advance on the distributor and the US models have a vacuum retard on the distributor. When I rebuild my distributor, I confirmed that it's the US model. That is the vacuum is retarded. I have a lot of questions about the proper way to install the vacuum lines since when I received the car, no vacuum lines were connected.
When the engine is running at idle (650 rpm) and at normal operating temperature, with the vacuum lines connected, what should the timing be on the crankshaft?
In addition, if anybody has a timing versus RPM chart for the 4.2 Litre XK engine, please PM it to me or post it here, thanks in advance for your help!
