Default Top hose replacement

Dear Friends, I am about to replace the top radiator hose as it has a pinhole that squirts coolant all over the under bonnet sound proofing material!
Do I need to drain the whole system before removal of the top hose?
As there is no radiator draintap, I suppose I need to remove the lower hose to drain?
Any advice will be very welcome.
Kindest regards, Danny.

No need to drain the entire system, no.

I'm guessing if you drain off about a gallon it'll be enough to prevent a big mess when the hose is removed

You might find a coolant drain tap on the underside of the transmission heat exchanger....which is on the lower radiator hose. Some had the drain, some didn't

Cheers
DD

My 2 cents:
If the coolant level is low, you will lose very little when you remove the top hose.
Since there is a pinhole, the system should not be pressurized.
Remove the hose with the engine cold and you should have no problems.

Hi Doug, I am very grateful for your help, I had an idea that there would not be a great deal of loss. Kindest regards, Danny.

Doug
Can you tell me where the lower drain plug is on a 1993 coupe 6 cyl cooling system. I know there is one on the left side of the engine, but I'll be darned if I can find any other drain!
