Trans pressure affects shifting on BW66

Trans pressure affects shifting on BW66
Trying to refresh my failing aging memory. I know that lengthening the outer downshift cable increases pressure and shortening it decreases pressure. Does higher pressure make the transition shift sooner or later?
How would the trans act if cable left disconnected?

The tighter the cable the longer it takes to shift until it gets to the point it will not shift.
If the cable was disconnected, or left "loose", the trans would shift early and would have NO kickdown to speak of.
Cable too tight gives that well asked "clonk" on over-run as it drops into 1st gear just before you come to a stop.

Just a reminder that you shouldn't go hog wild with the adjustment. You're changing the operating pressures. I wanna say that one full turn in either direction from the original setting would be maximum....which is OK because less than that amount is enough to feel a difference in most cases.
In best practice the adjust is done with a pressure gauge attached. A few years ago someone here posted a good write-up of exactly what happens if the pressure adjustment is too far out of range. It ain't good
The service manual, if you have one, shows an adjustment method that doesn't require a trans pressure gauge.
Cheers
