Unhappy turn signals stopped working :(

Hi all! so unfortunately ive run into another problem with my xj6, last night i went to go pick up a friend when i left y turn signals were defiantly working when i got to the place i was meant to get him i turned off the car as he was taking a while, i got quite bored and made the stupid decision to play with the turn signal stick a little bit just moving it back and fourth for only 15-20 seconds or so but when i left i had noticed my turn signals had completely stopped working no clicking no green indicator nothing, my emergency flashers are working perfectly just not the turn signals any help is greatly appreciated
thank you all for your time!

So it has to be the switch then, surely ? New ones from SNG Barratt can be ordered, but they're not cheap. Either way, you're going to have to examine the switch to see if it is defective or not.

Start off by checking fuse #10 in the main fuse box (driver’s side)

The direction indicator circuit is fused separately from the hazard light circuit. On my car I found a tarnished fuse for the indicators made them stop working intermittently.

can't be the switch, must be the fuse.

roll the fuse in its craddle, it should fix it.

Agreed on checking/rolling/cleaning the fuse first.

Also exercise your hazard lights switch rather vigorously a few times, as this might serve to clean tarnished contacts there. Power for the turn signals goes through the hazard lights switch first.

Cheers

Failing to fix and short of an expensive new switch, David Boger at everydayxj. Might even have a NOS switch at a better price. Or good used unit...

hey all quick update, all your comments were greatly appreciated, I had checked fuse 10 and moved it around the other night and nothin, however this morning I went to check the turn signal I had not touched anything and almost like magic they started working perfectly again, I have no clue what caused this but its safe to say I will never mess with my turn signal stick for fun again haha, thank you all for your time!

If the ignition switch was OFF during your exploration, nothing could have been affected, not even the switch.

but if the ignition switch was in ACCESSORY, as in radio ON, you might have "tripped" something, like the Flasher Relay.

The Bosch Flasher Relays are quite sensitive, it is a good thing to have a spare flasher relay in the car along with belts, radiator hoses. fuses, bulbs, and tools.
