Default vinyl Top search?

I am looking for a vinyl top for a '76 XJ6C. Mine has rips in it and want to replace. Any help would be great! Thanks

The top is made of off-the-roll vinyl material, so the obvious move is to carefully remove the existing (and damaged) roof, and use this as a pattern for a shop that produces things like new convertible tops. They will probably have the material as well. You might need to use a hair-dryer to soften the glue, (or some cellulose thinners).

You will find when you take the old lining off that the roof will be rusting in many places, (even may be holed by rust !) due to water getting underneath. These vunyl roofs looked good when new, but became an absolute 'pain in the *rse' for the poor chap wanting to restore the car 35 years down the line

Hi Brian,

Have you considered removing the vinyl top and having your car re-painted? I saw this car and the lines of the car are really cleaned up nicely.

Mike

Thank you for the info. I have thought about just painting the roof but I like to bring things back to original as best I can. Because there are so few of these I like the look. I will paint the roof and seal it and them attach the top after and see what I think.

On another note: changing the color of the car from original brown; how much does that affectthe show quality for jaguars or showld I stick with the brown? Your thoughts.

Hi Brian,

I would recommend keeping with either the original brown or something close to it. Going to an entirely different color will likely adversely affect the show value of the car.

Good luck,

Mike
