Default WHAT IS ACTUALLY WRONG WITH MY Series III

Hello,
Please my Series III now starts without the AFM cable/wire socket connected but immediately the wire socket is connected the fire goes off.

What could be the possible problem?
Could it be an issue with the Timing Chain settings?

Please help me.

Thanks

Mike

You probably need a new air flow meter. As a matter of course, check the coolant temp sensor. The AFM is an electromechanical device that often fails. If you are inclined remove the black cover and clean the tracings with some solvent or if heavily tarnished use 2000 grit sand paper.

Hi ICSAMERICA,

I have already done the AFM cleaning but still the issue is pertaining.
I am ordering a USED AFM from everydayxj.com including the coolant temp sensor.

Thanks

Mike

I would also suggest all the basics, timing and verify correct fuel pressure.

So you mean we should re-align the timing chain?

I wouldn't go near the timing chain at this point. How that would have slipped or moved out of position is hard for me to fathom. Why do you keep mentioning that? Was someone in there?

As for the CTS, l cant tell by looks. Order by part number and measure the Resistance with a DVM if you want to go that deep.
http://www.type17.ch/downloads/Injec...leshooting.pdf - Page 75 has the CTS restance values.

Can you re-iterate the issue? The car will try to start or will start without the AFM but when you plug it in, it no longer does? IIRC the diagram for the starting circuit is pretty simple, so you should be able to take the cover off the AFM and check the relays to see where you are getting a ground or voltage where you shouldn't have it.
