I will take that as,yes that is the normal amount of crap to build up in 4-6 months of daily driving.

It started cold perfect and idle was smooth with choke half way out.

Pretty much.

The hose from the front breather does dump a lot of crap on the clean air side of the filter. Most of mine had a simple hose dropped down from that breather and vented to atmosphere. Not good if the engine is a breather, mine were NOT, or emission testing is done.

Those carbies stayed clean for years.

Thanks, I'll try the atmospheric venting system. Day off Thursday, so will try it then and report back in six months.

Drove it to work today, certainly running smoother and starting easier. Hadn't noticed tuning slowly slipping away, but a clean and mixture and idle set of the mighty SU's has breathed more life into it.
All the better now for the Track Challenge at Lakeside Raceway, if the weather is good at the Euro day I will sign up to do some hot laps(lol)

Where to start with slight engine miss-image.jpgWell I decided today was the day for cleaning the carbies and followed instructions. I had to improvise on a couple of things, one the aircon pipes on the engine had to be moved for clearance to remove left dome and also the choke cable went through the lower hole of the same dome so had to be disconnected. Apart from that all went according to plan and now running very well. As can be seen from the piccies God knows when they were last cleaned.....should have it spot on after a couple of tweeks.
Grant that write up allows tinkerers like me to achieve great results....thanks!
