Default Will crank but not start

Unreal. Working fine for the 3 weeks I had it back on the road. All of a sudden cranks but will not turn over. Where do I start? Oh boy

I know that’s an impossible question for someone not present to answer but any suggestions will help. It starts fine sometimes. Last few days it has been humid. A little rain so I put her in the garage. I was messing around last night and noticed the busted 2wires from my compressor but as Doug said- no connection unless there was some major wire screwing around which didn’t happen. So I’m slightly confused because now it’s starting fine.

The 'could be' list is long.

Intermittants are often loose/dirty/corroded wiring connections. Carefully inspect the wiring at and around the coil...as wiring problems often occur in that area...but not exclusively there, of course.

Next time it won't start put the gearshift in "D" and turn the key to 'start'? Listen carefully. Do you hear the fuel pump run? You should.

This might help as well

ENGINE CRANKS BUT WON'T START

Do you have a 12v test light or meter?

Cheers
DD

I do not have a 12 v test light or meter. I’ll invest in both tho. And I’ll check the wires around the coil as well. Thanks Doug

Last night, after sitting for at least 6 hours, I cranked her up and it made a weird noise. I cranked again and her a pop and saw smoke. one of the hoses to my air flow meter popped off. I reattached and clamped the hose and it started up just fine. Took her out on a run this am and it was fine. Could that have been my issue earlier this week when it would crank but not start? If the clamp wasn’t tightened enuff, air/moisture creeps in?

Yes !!!

Massive vacuum leak. too much air, not enough fuel. Non combustible mixture, too lean, no run.

Got lucky. Easily found and fixed. As good as it gets.

leak is probably at the rack-to-hose connections, or at the pump itself hose connections.

if not, and it leaks at the rack ends where the accordion rubber things are, then your rack needs replacing. They all do at some point.

Try some Lucas Power Steering fluid with Stop Leak to see if it helps. Sold at auto parts stores like Autozone.
