Default Will S2/S3 front calipers fit on a S1 ??

Hi all,

The front "3 piston"-calipers on my '72 S1 are seriously bad.
Can i just fit "4-piston" S2/S3 calipers? I do realise and accept that i will also have to switch to 24mm discs)
I do read suggestions here and there to replace the whole hub/spindle to a S3 model. But is this strictly necessary if you want to move from a "3-piston caliper / 12mm disc" to a "4-piston caliper/ 24mm disc" configuration on a Series 1 car?
Or can i just swap the calipers and disc ?

Thanks so much !
Jan

The S1 brakes are good unless neglected.
To swap to 4 pot, everything between the upper and lower ball joint has to be changed as well.
And some advocate then swapping to a S3 master as well, which matches the calipers.
