Default Window stopped working

Well, my 84' XJ6 S3 driver's side door window has suddenly decided to stop working ( in the up position, luckily ).

I have gone to the center panel and traded around known good switches and they all tested working. So I need advice on the next diagnostic steps ( all the other windows and sunroof work ). Besides a bad switch, is there a next most common cause for the window to not work ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem, try checking those thermal breakers/switches under the glove box...although if one is bad usually you have more than one window that is non-functional, though it's a thing you want to check anyway.

-Motor failure
-Open wiring circuit
-Window mechanically jammed

Pull the door trim off and see if anything looks akimbo, and lube the windown mechanism and felt run channels.

If you have a meter or test light you can check for voltage to the motor

Replace "usually" with "always" :-)

The left windows are on one breaker on the right windows on the other....with the sunroof tagging along on one of them as well (I can never remember which side)

So, if a breaker is faulty, both windows on one side (and possibly the sunroof) will be inoperative

Cheers
