Default Wiring/ ignition help

Hey guys, I'm running a speedwire relay style wiring controller (website ) on my car that can also function as a push to start. How difficult is it to removing the turn key start up on an XJ6? Does anyone have a link to a wiring diagram? Thanks

to remove the ignition switch download the XJ-6 service manual and follow the steps in the electrical section:

Its not clear (to me) what you are after.

Do you want to totally remove the key function? (acc, ign on, start) or do you just want a push button start?

Are you looking for a wiring diagram for the mod or for a standard XJ6 (the link the the s57 diagrams is in the stickies)

Would help if you said what year XJ you are working on. The S1,2,3 cars are similar but not the same and many call XJ40s XJ6s

Assuming a Series III, perhaps true for others....

The ignition switch....the electric part...can be removed from the ignition lock by removing a tiny set screw in the side of the lock assembly and then wiggling the switch off. The wiring is pretty simple. Brown=constant 12v power. White=unfused 'key on' power. White/pink=fused 'key on' power. White/yellow=12v to starter relay

Cheers

Thanks for the reply guys. I apologize for the lack of information. I have a 1985 series 3 XJ6. The ultimate goal is to rebuild the dash using a digital display and minimize as many accessories as possible. So one thought to clean things up was removing the keyed ignition and utilizing the switch panel and relay board I have already started to integrate in. This has both an ignition button and a start button.

Push to start means something completely different in my lexicon!!!! Not a mere finger, but arms, legs and a back, Strong ones best.

Circa 65, I made a business call in Ojai, California. 63 Corvair Monza Coupe. four on the floor. Poor man's Porsche. Alas, it had an intermittant low grade shor.t

Alas, i was the last to leave. No crank! I managed to push it out of the drive way. slight upslope to over come.. The road was slighly down hill. Not enough to coast to a start. but, a push along the open door. then when I got a decent roll, jumped in and popped the clutch. yahoo, it fir Homeward bound.

Short found later, metal in the drooping heat line touched the + post on the battery!!

I'm not sure if you can incorporate a system like this to a switch panel but what a cool little feature.
