Default WOSP high torque gear reduction starter installed

well i had a 3rd rebuilt lucas starter on order via oriellys when i took another direction. i visited terry's jaguar parts and walked out with a wosp starter. what a pleasure it was to install due to it being compact, lightweight and having fixed bolts that pass through the transmission housing instead of holding the much heavier lucas with one had, aligning the holes, inserting the bolt....you get the picture. i've started several times without a hitch. i would recommend giving this alternative a good look.

it sure is smaller and lighter and the connections are simple not like lucas with it's multiple posts and spade connectors

here's a removal and install tip for those still using the conventional starter.....a 9/16 1/4" ratchet wrench is very useful in the confined space

this one's for Doug since i did not heed his good advice from another post wherein he advised removing the oil pressure sensor to avoid doing what i did:[. wll i got a new oil sensor now

i did pay heed to all the attention that was paid to good, clean connections by my fellow forum members. in fact after cleaning and sanding, i went ahead and replaced all the cabling associated with the battery and starter. i just hope everything keeps working.

the unit cost $193 with no core charge. if you end up with your broken starter, you will have the option of having it rebuilt by a local source and keep it as a reserve.

If it works for you and Continues to work for you, it's money Well Spent in my book!
I put a compact starter (not gear reduction though) on Nix 2 years ago. Totally one of the best "upgrades" ever.
