Default XJ12 Coupe - lead filling

hi
I have replaced floor pan + outer and inner sill on my coupe. I am an amateur so nothing looks very good...
The seam between sill and quarter panel looked horrible so decided to lead fill it. Originally I think it is not?
will it look weird somehow with this seam filled?

Short answer. NO!!

Way back, my son restored a battered 73 Ford Ranchero. the fancy version, in country wood style

Alas one rar quarter was bashed good. got it straight. but, the running light was too far gone to fix. None seemed to be available.

solution. filled the hole.

no runnong light on one side, but the other present !

it came ut great.

Sold to ACHP officer who intneded to gift it to hs Dad!1

I've done it. It will look fine. This area moves and is under stress so don't be shocked if the seam cracks at some point.

would plastic filler be more resistant to cracking under stress? (if assumed applied in the right way). I have zero experience with these things...

the plastic will crack real fast. If you don't want it to crack you will have to seam weld and metal finish it.

I filled in this seam on an XJS with body filler and it was intact after 5 years. Lead is even better.

Guess you could always create a depression along the seam, so that if it wanted to crack, the stress would be relived in the right place.
