Default XJ12C Tremec TKO 500 question

In my search for a 5-speed transmission for my XJ12C project, I have been looking closely at the Tremec TKO 500. There are multiple configurations for the shifter location on these, but from what I can tell, the stock rear centered position is what I want for my car. In looking at "kit" options, I noticed Vintage Jag works sells this $2600 transmission for $4000. They claim it is "modified" for my application. Does anyone know what needs to be done and why it would cost an additional $1400?

Sounds like a reasonable question. Why not pick up the phone and give them a call and ask them?

Post the answer. I'm curious.

That looks pretty cool. How much was the kit shipped to the states? How strong is the Getrag gear box? Even though I plan to run the V12 stock for now, I do eventually plan to turn up the wick a bit.

Well, Ben from Simply Performance got right back to me with TONS of info. I have to say, I am very impressed with the responsiveness of those guys. I think I will probably go this route in the spring. Thanks for the re feral.
