Can any one tell me if the cam covers of Jaguar XK engine fitted on early XJ6 short wheel base are the same as 1969/68 MK10 cam covers?
I have an XJ6 engine which I would like to give it the older Jaguar look with polished Aluminium cam covers as well as the engraved oil cap

Hi Doug
Thanks for the info
The hole is not important, and lets assume we can fill the hole and polish it.
My question is do the stud holes line up with the cylinder head stud holes and are they the same size. In other words are the pitch of the holes identical?

All the stud hole sizings and spacings are identical, on all the XK engines, regardless of size. it is the half-moon holes at the back end which will need blocking off in some way.
The cylinder head has corresponding half-moon holes because of the need to line-bore the camshaft bearing houses. I think you can get plugs to fill these holes, as one has to be filled, the other houses the rev-counter dynamo.

It is straight forward just leave the outside as is cosmetically by blocking and isolating everything internally
