Cool xj6 carbs

I have a 86 xj6 with super low mileage on engine (20,000 miles) but body is bad. I want to use the engine and trans for a project i have ( a 1950 ford) and would like to remove the electronics and the fuel injection, and switch to a carb. can this be done?

You don't say where you're located, but Series 2 cars in the UK were fitted with twin SUs, and a starter carburettor, and US cars had Strombergs. My preference would be the SUs. The inlet manifold for carbs is totally different so you'd need one of these plus the carbs. You would then have to somehow work out the correct needles and jets, but somebody may have done this already and put the info on the internet, so search around. You can leave the original Lucas Constant Energy ignition system on as its very reliable. A single wire connects off the coil to the EFI box, so you just eliminate this wire, and it will still work OK

I recently fitted a series 3 Jaguar XJ6 engine into a series 2. I replaced the fuel injection for the original twin carb set up, and fitted different needles and springs.
