Default XJ6 exhaust system

Does anyone know when Jaguar, specifically 1974 XJ6 started using catalytic reactors? Any help would be appreciated.

Are you looking to replace it? delete it? or just see if your car is supposed to have it?
As i am reading it, i see that 74 and older cars are exempt from smog check!

1975 was the first year in US car production.

1975 and earlier cars are not required to have a smog test, in California.
My 1975 XJC-6 runs cleaner with all the smog components removed.
I have installed HD-8 SU carbs. Much better than the Zenith Strombergs.

Darren,
Thank you for responding. I have a 1974 xj6L with a chev 300hp 350. It still has the original exhaust system. I am looking to go 2.5 inch with duals the entire system. Right now the jag is quieter than my Grand Cherokee. The new system should add some degree of performance. I am in Oregon with no smog testing, however, the muffler shops are somewhat reticent to install a modified exhaust if the vehicle came with a Catalytic converter. I have been able to determine, with your and others help on the forum that 75 was the first year for Jag's. I have had several other's a 120, and a 140. Loved them. The combination I have now is very reliable and smooth. I am also very familiar with the small block chev. Thank you again.

You've just done it!
The other way is to click on the thanks button at the bottom right of the appropriate post.
