Default XJ6 leaking fuel tank

Hi All, my series three is leaking out left tank. I have blocked the hose near spare to left tank and just using right tank. I am about to start on taking the tank out. Any advice would be appreciated immensely
Cheers Cadillacs

This is more or less the latest one:

Getting the filler cap off is the hardest part.. then it is just a matter of taking off the sloped valance panel and all the bolts and hoses.

Be sure to replace ALL the rubber hoses...new tanks are available from Spectra (the manufacturer) and are sold various places. Use new gaskets on the fuel sender and filler cap O ring. Most of the time they come with the new tank.

There is a bolt behind the muffler. It can be removed but putting it back can be an issue. Removing the muffler makes it easy. Extreme caution if you feel heat is need to free the muffler. Remember the tank is leaking ;-0

I am doing the same job !!
