It would depend on the laws in your area. MOST states don't bother with emissions beyond 20 years (yours is past 20 years). If you're in Cali, that's a different story, altogether.

My recommendation is don't, then. The only way you'll pass emissions is if you have it fuel injected, or, at the very least, TBI (throttle-body injection). Does your XJ6 have fuel injection, or is it carbbed? If it's carbbed, you might be able to find a way around it by asking a knowledgeable, REPUTABLE hot rod shop. Even if it's not, they may be able to lead you in the right direction.
