xj6 motor swap sb chevy smog referee help

so heres the thing i have my 83 xj6 4x4 an i wanna swap it out with a 383 stroker i have in my van but idk what ima have to do for smog reasons cuase the van is a 73 an since im from cali idk so i was lookin to see if any one could help me out with this prob so i can carry on an build my beast lol

It would depend on the laws in your area. MOST states don't bother with emissions beyond 20 years (yours is past 20 years). If you're in Cali, that's a different story, altogether.

My recommendation is don't, then. The only way you'll pass emissions is if you have it fuel injected, or, at the very least, TBI (throttle-body injection). Does your XJ6 have fuel injection, or is it carbbed? If it's carbbed, you might be able to find a way around it by asking a knowledgeable, REPUTABLE hot rod shop. Even if it's not, they may be able to lead you in the right direction.

ya well its got the 4.6 in it thats fuel injected that thing is nothing but probs it runs great just lil stuff like the wiring which there known for an we keep blowing fuel rail lines an its just not enough to turn our 33 in tires like we want
