That price isn't unreasonable (at least not where I live) and the 4.2 engines in those cars are pretty tough. However one thing you have to keep in mind is that it is an 85, so it has a few years on it. The electronics in those cars wasn't the greatest and can give you problems once in awhile, but so can any car that age.
So, yes, the car is probably worth it if described accurately and it could be a very nice car for you, especially as a first car. Just be prepared to spend a little more on maintenance than your average car when something breaks.

Jamey is right. These are great cars but it WILL be needing love from time to time, no question about it. Set aside some cash to take care of things as they pop up.
