XJ6 Question. TIME SENSITIVE!
Hello! I'm thinking about buying a 1985 XJ6 from a seller on Craigslist. They're only asking $3,500 for it, and it seems to be in perfect condition.
To quote the ad "This is a real nice and sharp 1985 JAGUAR XJ6-6 cyl-automatic-all power-real nice grey leather interior-GOOD TIRES-climate control-cold a/c-tinted windows-real slick grey paint-NO RUST-VERY WELL MAINTAINED-looks runs and drives great"
Now this would be my first car, and to be honest I hardly know anything about cars, so I've come here for advice from you good people, because you're enthusiasts. Is this too good to be true? Should I go for it?
Thank you so much for any guidance,
Abby

Hi Abbygirl
That price isn't unreasonable (at least not where I live) and the 4.2 engines in those cars are pretty tough. However one thing you have to keep in mind is that it is an 85, so it has a few years on it. The electronics in those cars wasn't the greatest and can give you problems once in awhile, but so can any car that age.
So, yes, the car is probably worth it if described accurately and it could be a very nice car for you, especially as a first car. Just be prepared to spend a little more on maintenance than your average car when something breaks.
