XJ6 steering wheel
Ok I am new to this forum so still feeling my way.
I have just purchased a 1982 Jag XJ6 series 3 and want to change the steering wheel for an aftermarket format as the leather wrap is worn..
All my other cars are metric and I now find myself with a car that requires imperial spanners and sockets.
So off I go to my local auto store and find they have a limited stock of imperial tools as all new cars are metric. So I purchase a set of ring, set and sockets up to 1".
However I do not have a socket in the set that will fit the Jag steering wheel nut.
15/16" is too small and 1" is too big. Difficult to measure the nut with a vernier because it is set below down below the rim of the boss.
Does anyone on this forum know the correct socket size or do I require a special Jag tool for this nut.?

As often as I've removed steering wheels from old Jags you'd think I'd remember. But I don't.
I'm pretty sure it has been 7/8"
In any case, it was nothing weird. I'm not sure what you have.
Try a metric socket!
Cheers

try a 19 mm socket If not 19 it's a 21 or 22 mm. I forgot too, I only look for the socket when I change steering wheels. I use 2 different Momo steering wheels in the XJ-6,
