XJ6C Fuel Pressure Issue
Working on my 1977 XJ6C. Car has always started and ran fine, Last night went to do a service on it and could get it started. I can faintly hear both pumps, I have power going in and out of the inertia switch, but I'm not really getting any pressure, Brand new engine bay in-line fuel filter (I don't know of another one), but even with the filter removed the feed line is not really getting pressure with the ignition on from either pump (but like I said I hear them, I even hear the change when I switch). Also there is some type of electrical valve after the fuel cooler. What the heck is that?? I'm wondering if this car has the in-tank style pumps or external. It was built 5/1977 (XKs Unlimited shows internal from 75-77 but the factory 1977 manual says "early cars"). I don't know how I could suddenly lose pressure from both pumps, or they both decided to stop working simultaneously. The car did sit for many years prior to this service (like 20 years), my next step was to drain the tanks and start pulling pumps and seeing what is going on. Any thoughts??

My car has little access panels in the wheel arches. It is not FI it is carbureted, however the pumps (I believe) are in the tank (submersible style). I will be doing more work. I have called two parts suppliers and no one seems to even know what this little solenoid/valve in line after the fuel cooler even is.
Figured it out after tons of diagnosis I basically came to the conclusion the pumps had to come out. Pulled them and found the hose connecting the pump to the pickup tube was completely deteriorated on both pumps. So for future reference if anyone has an issue like this where everything seems normal check these little buggers.
just finished this work, 77xj6c. there are two major issues: A fuel pump power wire on the fuel cut off relay on the firewall(picture) is famous for falling off. check that first. second is the gummed up in-tank fuel pumps; rebuild or replace.

Thanks Geneo, I'll keep that in mind for the future. Mine ended up being the fuel hose connecting the pump to the pickup tube was completely deteriorated. Pulled pumps and replaced with actual submersible fuel hose. Going back in today and hoping for the best.
