1985 Jaguar XJS Hirschmann Antenna Conversion
Hi there,
I just posted previously in another thread as a new owner about my recent purchase of an 85 XJS. The antenna mast is broken and if I am going to replace it I would like to replace it with an entire Hirschmann unit because I have had a car with the same unit before and replacements masts are easy and cheap to come by. This might seem like a silly question but my 85 XJS comes with the older Merlin antenna for which there seems to be no replacement masts. If I buy the Hirschmann unit will the setup be relatively close plug and play? I also know that the location of the motor differs between each model and it will be visible when I mount the Hirschmann unit which is okay by me. Any help would be appreciated thank you guys!

It should be a straight in job. But check that the Jaguar delay relay is functioning. This is the green box you will find in the RHS exhaust tunnel connected to the aerial motor of the OEM unit.
