1985 Jaguar XJS mysterious filter
Hi there this is likely a silly question but I have searched high and low and cannot find out what this is. There is a small filter like a small engine fuel filter like this http://www.retrospecparts.com/citroen-parts/1-fuel-filter-in-line-small.html connected to a hose which goes along the left hand side engine cross brace but on the other side of the filter it is not connected to anything. It seems to furthermore be leaking fluid so I am very concerned. What could this be?

That's the air inlet filter for the distributor vent system.

It shouldn't have any fluid. Maybe some rainwater was ingested?
