Default Fuel Filter replacement question - RESOLVED

so - stupid question most likely, but if I change the fuel filter with a full tank, should I expect much in the way of leakage?

Very small amount of fuel leakage when I changed my wife's XK8's fuel filter in March 2015. The car probably had half a tank of fuel at the time. Have a catch pan handy before you pull the lines, though....

+1 on Jon89

Don't do it just after the engine has been running OR release the pressure with the schrader valve in the engine compartment first. After that, it's just the fuel in the pipes that will run out through gravity so not much more than a spoonful or so.
But - even a spoonful in your right eye can be uncomfortable, so have some old cloths or paper towels handy to catch the drips !

Or you can pull the feul pump fuse while idling to relieve pressure.

Have a container ready to place the used filter in as many jurisdictions have regulations on the disposal of used filters containing fuel or engine oil. There is also the danger of fire or explosion from the used filter depending on how it is stored.

It's also alot easier if you remove the left rear tire. Access is much easier. Did mine in about 20 minutes.
