Default 1988 xjs ab14 amp

I still have the old lucas ab14 ignition amp and would like to replace the components inside (GM Part). i was told the i can change the internal parts(module insert) instead of buying a new amp($700 plus). Can you tell me what is the part number of the main component. ?

Also can i change Lucas ignition amp to a different ignition amp ?

thanks for the help

The module inside is GM part, AC Delco number D1906, or GM number 10482820. Cheapest place I have found is RockAuto: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=97460&jsn=256

Use only the genuine GM part, as the V12 pushes the module to it's limits. I tried several aftermarket parts and the car wouldn't even start. Put in a (used!) GM part from the junkyard and the car started right up. It's generically known as a 4 pin HEI module. Just about every GM car and truck pre 1980 used these.

Also make sure to use the paste that comes with the new module, getting rid of the heat it generates is critical.
