Default 1990 Jaguar XJS - Aftermarket Resonator and Intermediates.

Hello all.

I have some exhaust parts on the way and am stoked! I am working to go in the direction of elimination of CATs altogether....

Now, I am hunting for an aftermarket resonator and two intermediate pipes... ANY leads would be much appreciated...

On the passenger side, the point where the pipe goes into the forward facing side of the current resonator is shot, leaking, noisy. The intermediate pipe where it connects to the downpipes and CATs on both sides are misshapen due to POOR clamping (not by me!) and leak, badly. New, longer intermediate pipes with flared olive fittings in the front and longer, to account for the deletion of the RH CAT at least, are needed.

I do have a possible Jag stainless steel resonator lined up,,, but its well over $200... ouch

I have looked with little luck (resonators from Walker - NLA), so, any and all leads on what and where folks have sourced these items would be very helpful right now. And please know,,, money IS an object, lol. Just my truth...

A few years ago I was looking for exhaust parts. No problem finding complete stainless steel exhaust kits for $1200-$1500. Ouch !

I gave up trying to find individual parts.

I ended up at the local muffler shop. Ended up with what I needed and liked for a fraction of the cost of an SS kit.

Cheers

Well said! I'm a fool. I haven't even begun to tap into,,, or to get to KNOW, my local skilled auto crafts people here in NYC... It's crazy!

You're not being foolish. You're on a hunt for parts which, for many of us, is actually part of the fun.

But when it doesn't pan out you take secondary avenues.

Seek out a muffler shop that caters to the hot rod/specialty car crowds. Such a shop is more likely to be unfazed by special requests and unusual cars.

Cheers

Doug 100% correct. A decent exhaust building place will fabricate what you need. But you need to find one that can weld and bend pipes, etc etc. A quick drive-in proprietary exhaust mounting shop will be useless.

Good morning/afternoon!

Thank you both... Really. This weekend Ill do some cruising around seeing if I can find me a shop to do (some) the work. Actually, I think I might have a guy in mind less than 1/5th of a mile away... Is a mod exhaust guy, he'ss a bit of a nutt,,, likes to weld and create,,, but can be super temperamental, lol.

I git a little squirrel-E with the $tally$ for all of this stuff. Between time and money these machines really take up a lot. Acquired all of these machines within the last 2-3 years,,, all of this is new. Every penny counts.

Below are a few Porsche 928 shots,,, reworking the rear end,,, where it was hit on the RH side rear... All new for me. Someone jimmyed together a bunch of mismatch 928 rear end components (different years) and I am sorting it now. New bearings, hubs, carriers and a few bushings. Different than Jag language and suspension... Realized yesterday that the mismatched rear axle doesn't fit into the ABS style carrier I purchased and was installing. Have a new right axle on the way. Wheel spacers, etc. Can't wait. She flys!!!

Anyways... Thanks

Came together nicely...With new 72mm lug bolts installed

But the damn thing doesn't go on to the shaft properly!!!!

Didn't work. Looks good tho, lol
