Default XJS Convertible Window Adjustment...

Hello all.

Finally gave Cherry a good bath a few days back, out front of the apartment, with a hose connected with a couple of adapters to a fire hydrant... Might sound funny but Porsche, XK8 and Cherry are haaaaapppy!!!!

When spraying water much was going inside of the car due to a gap between the window and the trim. I've been looking around for answers to "Window Adjustment" questions but none with a lot of detail...

The trim IS shaped like a window has been pressed against it stationary for many loooong years, but it is soft, pliable, no tears. I have heard of DuPont's rubber seal treatment formula and some is on the way. I expect this will help. But what I would really like to do it get the window to raise a quarter to half an inch MORE,,, to better meet the seal.

Does anyone have any experience with adjusting the drivers and passenger windows up, fore, aft, tilt etc? Driver's I've noticed doesn't line up exactly with the rear quarter window in a way I like either. Very willing to tear into the door panels.

Any suggestions? And of course - all shared info wisdom and guidance is deeply appreciated.

A few snaps of the car - first good bath in like 12yrs (I've heard)

Rear shocks and springs next on a long list...

Also - Driver's door seems to tilt OUT at the bottom just a bit but it's noticable. I want to get the lines there a bit tighter, too. Open to direction...

JJJ,

There is a whole section in the original Jaguar documentation on alignment and adjustment of both front and rear windows. It was also published on the Jaguar XJS Supplementary Information CDROM, Part number JHM1123. You can sometimes get copies on ebay etc. If I get a chance later this week, I'll mount up the CDROM and copy the relevant sections for you. Unless some other member can do it before me.....

Cheers

Paul

Thanks Paul... That would be a beautiful thing!

I have been hearing about the ROM... Have been aiming at it but have not gotten around to actually getting a copy. I have been thinking about digging into the "file sharing" sites like KAT or Pirates Bay to see if someone somewhere has uploaded it, but yeah,,, my lazy ***...

I would appreciate it. I have a feeling I MIGHT be able to figure something out once in there, but what I have learned is that that is not always the case and nothing bothers me more than going in without some preliminary info,,, then having to button things back up having fixed, nothing...

Thanks!

JJJ,

As promised, here's the window adjustment notes from Jaguar's dealer documentation. There's lots more hood sealing stuff, but I just thought I'd show you the window adjustment for now.

Cheers

Paul

This might help.
Also, don't bother with KAT or PB.
Nothing there.

JJJ,

I can't give you a site link. It's screenshots I took from certain pages of the XJS Supplementary Information CDROM part number JHM1123 that I have. As always, you'll find copies on ebay. I'll try doing it again and see if I can get better images at the weekend. There are other pages, I had just screenshot the ones relating to the glass adjustment.

Cheers

Please know that I am super grateful... Didn't mean to come off sounding like I was complaining...
