1993 DTC Code
Hello, I have a 93 XJS w/6.0L engine (US Spec) the trip computer is showing a trouble code: FF19, it seems to be running fine though, has anyone encountered this? from a brief look online it would appear something to do with the Throttle position sensor. Any insight as to what may be the issue would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!!

Hi Paul
I have 2 separate notes for FF19 on my FF cheat sheet, ie
FF19 Throttle pot out of range. Should be low at high load 4 litre
FF19 Above or MAP sensor cal wrong 6 litre
So according to this you should be looking at your MAP sensor as oppose to your TPS.
To be honest, I've found the FF system to be a bit sensitive, and during my time with my V12 I've had various FF codes pop up for no apparent/obvious reason.
My current way of working is if I have a fault code occur, I check the obvious things, like is the wiring to the component still there, etc. Then I reset the code. The correct procedure for resetting the light is to disconnect the battery, but this gives you more work, ie have to set up your stereo again, and also my seat memory does weird things once the battery is reconnected. I actually have a cheat switch installed in my right hand ashtray that allows me to reset an FF code without disconnecting the battery. 9 times out of 10 the code doesn't come back for me. The most prevalent codes I had were related to O2 sensors, and once I had seen those appear 2 or 3 times I replaced the O2 sensors and they haven't reoccurred
You may want to try this first and see if the code comes back. What was the car doing when the code appeared ? In almost all of my cases, my FF codes appear while the car is idling (like at a stop light)
Is your car an XJR-S ? Or just a 6.0 V12 ? The XJR-S cars run completely different ignitions systems so you may have a unique set of codes.....

Thanks Sarc, it is the XJR-S model, I was hoping the codes would equate to the same error though, nonetheless I think I will let my etch take a look into this, I did however notice that due to the really high heat down here that when I refill there is a tremendous amount of pressure buildup in the gas tanks enough to get fuel mist when I take the filler off, seems that the rubber gasket is hard as a rock seems the spring on it is also very stiff
