Default 1993 xjs 4.0 alternator upgrade?

Hi everyone! I am in the process of replacing the alternator and I have seen people removing the air pump and moving the alternator up in the v12's but am wondering if anyone has done it to a 4.0. I have looked, but only see about v12s. Im sure it can be done, but not sure if I would need a different bracket

I ended up getting my alternator rebuilt locally. They had all the factory Denso parts in stock and I dropped it off Wednesday morning and got it back fri morning! Which considering they were closed on Thursday for thanksgiving I didn't think it was too bad. It would have been $120 for a clean out and basic rebuild, but they found that my rectifier was completely blown out, so it got a new one of those too. Grand total after tax was $153. Im happy with that!

Glad you got it sorted out! I haven't explored removing the air pump so I can't tell you anything there, as long as it's not causing an issue I'd leave it be.

Yeah the 30 degrees I can suffer through but not the rain. I ended up getting an aftermarket new alternator for mine (thread with pics in the x300 section) but there's not any local shops to speak of.
