1994 4.0 Check Engine Light doesnt work
1994 4.0 Check Engine Light doesnt work and at times does work. The car is designed to display all dashboard lights including the Check Engine Light at start up, for a couple of seconds. Lately it only shows up at start up once in a while. In the 1994, the OBC displays Check Engine above the clock while the light on the dashboard lights up too. If the bulb fails, the OBC will still display Check Engine, Im sure. There are no codes.
The only thing that I did differently, was I located the Purple harness that allows me to clear any codes via grounding the wire, inside the cabin. I used it a couple of times, to clear a code I received when I accidentally started the car with a disconnected ABS pump harness plug. So Im wondering if I damaged something electrical by starting the car on and then off with a disconnected ABS pump or using the purple wire to clear the code.
