Default 1994 wheels questions XJS/V12

Did the 1994 XJS coupe V12 come with 16' chrome wheels ? They look so beautiful on a black car and although I want to keep my car all original I would not mind purchasing a set of chrome wheels.
My wheels are almost perfect aside from a little pitting on one of them , no curb rash all good

From the brochures I have seen, the only wheels for a 94 V12 was the 5 spoke in diamond turned finish.

It looks like a chrome wheel might have been available in 1995, the parts catalogue show it after VIN 194775, and only on 6.0 cars. Part number is MHC6113EA

These data tend to agree with @Jagboi64's brochures.

Terry,

Forget the US "1994" id. The US uses different Model Year classifications compared to what Jaguar defined for the rest of the world. The key changepoints are at defined VINs as Jagboi64 has identified.

The chrome 5-spoke is a derivation of the "plain" diamond-cut 5-spoke. Prior to the plain 5-spoke, the 5-spoke wheel had a groove across each spoke. The diamond-cut 5-spoke was introduced at VIN 194775 with the intro of the AJ16 engine. At that time a chrome version was also developed as an option in response to the US demand for more bling. (We don't really do chrome wheels over here!) In fact, the chrome wheel was even manufactured in the US and is stamped thus on the inner face. They were option wheels for both 4 litre & 6 litre cars. I have a friend who has both models with the chrome 5-spokes, and the wheels were optioned from new.

So if you've got a car with a VIN later than 194775, then you're fine. But even if your car is before that, it's still your car, so do what you like! No-one except us will know that it's not correct!

Cheers

Paul

Good choice, I have never seen chrome wheels that lasted.
The chrome is nearly impossible to attach to the alloy.
