Default Factory wheel options

Iv recently been itching to change my original painted starfish wheels on my 88 XJS. It's not that I hate the wheel it's self, just the dull finish. I was looking at an original set that had been chromed aftermarket. I really want to attempt to keep the car somewhat original.
Now, here's the thing. I actually found on an auction sight, a set of four starfish wheels from an 86 XJS that are "factory" chrome with the black details. The price was 325.00 for all and with shipping, 430.00.
I guess my question is if they really are the "rare" original chrome finish they claimed them to be. I can't find any info on these wheels. They certainly look factory.
Any info? And if anyone has a photo of these chrome factory starfish wheels on their car, I'd love to see.

No "factory" chrome wheels at all from Jaguar in that era. It was somewhat popular for dealers to have wheels chromed, or polished to a high gloss.

If you really don't dislike the wheel, I'd say your best bet would be to have yours reconditioned. Lots of places out there that can do that, and pretty reasonable. We have an outfit here in Indy that does marvelous work, wheels look better than new when they get done. A wheel recon without any straightening goes for about $150 a wheel. Much better than new wheels.

Just a thought.......
