Default 1994 XJS Brakes

1994 XJS 6 cyl (Facelift) Teves Mk III ABS System

Lost brakes 3 years ago, replaced Accumulatir Bulb and the brakes came back fine. Last week I heard a POP like a baloon bursting and now no brakes. Replace Accumulator Bulb again but no go.

There is NO brake fluid on garage floor or leaking anywhere!!! Brake fluid level is correct. So I am guessing the electric pump which pressurizes the Bulb. Can the electric pump be rebuilt or am I barking up the wrong tree.

Currently the brakes pedal is solid for a second after start up but then goes to the floor. Has anyone replace the pump or rebuilt it...... I have other British classic cars so I am not a novice working on British cars.

There is no dashboard warning light and no codes are displayed..........Anyone have a pump for sale, that works

steveq,

I believe it was still the Teves II system on XJSs uo until they jumped to Teves IV. So, assuming you've got a Teves II and your VIN is pre-198335, then:

When you turn the ignition off, does teh pedal get harder after you've pressed it a few times?

If so, press 25 times to dissipate any accumulator pressure (assuming there is some). Pedal will get very hard.

Release pedal. Tun on ignition, (Don't start car) Does the pump start to run? How long does it run for?

One last thing - have you done the Blink test to check for brake error codes?

Paul
