1994 XJS trunk/boot
I have access to the lock mech. Via a hole drilled Behind the plate, but can't use the key or the release button on under boot. Is there something that needs to be reset, ?
Does the release lever feel like it has no resistance? On my car, a horseshoe shaped clip had come off, and the lever wouldn't work at all. You have to take the plastic shield covering the back side of the lock mechanism off to see it.
That's where I found my problem. I actually went to a local auto parts store, and found a different clip that seemed to work better. I don't know why the original came off, but once it did, the lever wouldn't/couldn't activate the latch.
What position is the trunk key lock in ?
On my car there are 2 possible positions to leave the lock barrel in..... one position enables the trunk to be locked and unlocked with the central locking. The other position prevents the trunk from being unlocked.
Can you get the black lock button to depress at all ? (ie if you fiddle with the key)
