Default 1995 Facelift 4.0L Why is the Boot/Trunk Lid So Heavy?

Can anyone throw some light on this?

While the Boot/Trunk Lid on a Pre-Facelift V12 is what I would describe as a moderate weight

The Boot/Trunk Lid on my Face-Lift 4.0L is so Heavy that with the 'Gas Struts' disconnected, it feels like you'd need a crane to lift it up

Was there any good reason for making it as heavy as it is?

Sure, this is to balance the weight distribution, weight of the hood/bonnet.

The pre face lift has a lid support too. It’s a long narrow hoop on thick metal wire under the back window. Poke around, you’ll find it.

"long narrow hoop on thick metal wire" > torsion spring.
